Announcing New PoPs in Milan and Melbourne

We are very pleased to start the year by announcing our two new PoPs (points of presence) in Milan and Melbourne. Not only do the new data centers extend our worldwide coverage to provide added online security for distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. But the latest PoPs further enhance performance for all Incapsula content delivery network (CDN) customers.

With these two PoPs, Imperva Incapsula now has 28 dedicated campuses around the world with over 2 Tbps capacity. As we continue to grow, we’re committed to optimizing network connectivity and meeting the business needs of our growing network of customers and partners.

EMEA Regional Coverage in Milan

Our data center in Milan represents our 10th PoP in the greater Europe/Middle East/Africa area. But more important, it adds support for the Italian market and connects us to MIX (Milan IX), the largest Internet Exchange in the country. In addition, our Milan location provides all the services in our cyber security arsenal:

Oceania Coverage in Melbourne

Along with previously established locations in Auckland and Sydney, the new PoP located in Melbourne helps to boost our ongoing coverage in the Oceania region. As always, we plan to bring our entire network of protection services to Melbourne, including:

  • WAF applications to control input and output access
  • A load balancer to distribute workload
  • Sophisticated Layer 3 scrubbing that provides around-the-clock online monitoring and mitigation
  • General and specialized infrastructure protection
  • IP security to ensure private and secure communications

The increased demand for cyber security has sparked a need for reliable services that protect and secure websites and corporate assets. As we’ve grown, we remain committed to protecting our global customers from continued and growing large-scale DDoS attacks. Over the past three years, for example, we’ve witnessed an unprecedented increase in the number of cyber security threats. We now see one in every three attacks reaching beyond 20 Gbps. In fact, +100 Gbps DDoS threats are no longer uncommon. That’s a concern for all of us.

As a result, our goal is to stay one step ahead of the various encroaching threats to online security. Our PoP expansion into Milan and Melbourne represents our commitment to our clients’ current needs. But it also represents our continued commitment to a safe and secure future.
