Application Security Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Position Summary  
 
Reporting to the General Manager of Application Security within the Cloud Protection & Licensing Business Line of Thales, as the Application Security Chief Technology Officer (CTO) you will play a pivotal role in leading our efforts to protect organizations from emerging cyber threats targeting applications and APIs. Leveraging your expertise in application security, you will drive innovation and strategic initiatives to ensure our platform remains at the forefront of safeguarding against dynamic attack surfaces.  
 
  
This position is remote anywhere in the US.  
 

Key Responsibilities:   

●    Technology Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical expertise in application security, guiding the development and enhancement of our platform to address evolving threats and challenges.
●    Innovation: Lead the strategic direction of research and development to influence cutting-edge solutions to counter emerging attack vectors, ensuring our platform remains adaptive and resilient in the face of evolving cyber threats.
●    Product Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence strategic product roadmap initiatives, aligning with market trends and customer requirements. Provide guidance to technical marketing and competitive positioning. Drive critical strategic investment in the development of differentiating technologies and partnership decisions. Achieve and maintain leadership positions of Imperva product portfolios.
●    Thought Leadership and Evangelization: Serve as a subject matter expert in application security, representing Imperva at industry events, conferences, and forums, while contributing insights and thought leadership through publications and presentations. Evangelize internally within Thales and externally at conferences.
●    Customer Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders and customers to understand their security needs and challenges, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to address their concerns effectively.
●    Collaboration: Collaborate with the threat research team to extract insights from data produced, enabling the translation of research into actionable strategies. Collaborate with technologists from other companies (partners, alliances, etc.) to drive innovation and enhance our offerings.
●    Lead by Influence: Lead initiatives through influence rather than direct authority, fostering collaboration and driving alignment across teams and departments.
●    Support Internal Teams: Improve internal teams' knowledge and understanding of the industry and our products to enhance collaboration and innovation.  
 

Minimum Qualifications:  
  
●    Extensive Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in application security, both on the vendor side and the client/customer side, with a strong background in developing and implementing security solutions for modern and hybrid architectures.
●    Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of web application security principles, including but not limited to WAF, bot protection, API security, client-side protection, and DDoS mitigation. Experience with secure software development lifecycles, secure architecture development, and implementation. Extensive knowledge of cutting-edge technology trends such as cloud-native architecture, machine learning, and AI.
●    Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading technical teams and driving successful outcomes in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
●    Strategic Vision: Ability to formulate and execute strategic initiatives that address current and future challenges in application security, while staying ahead of emerging threats and trends.
●    Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
●    Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and technologists from other companies (i.e. partners, alliances), fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.  
 
 
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $157,000 – $270,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, other qualifications, and location.
