Imperva recognized as a Strong Performer in Forrester Wave: Data Security Platforms, Q1 2023

The Forrester Wave™ evaluated the largest end-to-end providers of data security capabilities across a wide range of functionality to enable controls to enforce data security policies for both structured and unstructured data. In this report, Forrester provides an assessment of the top vendors in the market.

Forrester evaluated 14 vendors against 24 criteria, which are grouped into three high-level categories: Current Offering, Strategy, and Market Presence.

Key criteria for these solutions include data discovery, data classification, data use insights, data threat and risk visibility, data access controls, data loss prevention, data masking or redaction, encryption, rights management, tokenization, privacy use cases, data and information governance use cases, investigations, manageability and support, integrations for Zero Trust, and supplier risk. 

Findings

In the Forrester Wave™: Data Security Platforms Scorecard,Q12023, Imperva received the highest possible score of 5.0 for 8 criteria, including data classification, data threat and risk visibility, data masking, encryption, tokenization, investigations, and privacy use cases.

From its 2020 acquisition of jSonar to the launches of a data security business unit as well as the Tech Alliance Program (TAP), Imperva has taken major steps to enable a vision for protecting all data as organizations move their workloads to the cloud.

The Imperva Data Security Fabric (DSF) is the result of this continued transformation, bringing together capabilities for database activity monitoring, access control, data risk analytics, discovery and classification, and more.

Database activity monitoring remains a core strength, reflected in Imperva’s capabilities for data threat and risk visibility. Imperva is also notable for its support for privacy use cases and investigations..

The Forrester report states,” Organizations looking for intelligence about data risks and user behaviors across hybrid multicloud environments and the flexibility of a data security fabric where they can customize via integrations should consider Imperva”.

About the Forrester Wave

A Forrester Wave is a guide for buyers considering their purchasing options in a technology marketplace. This Wave report rates qualified vendors on 24-criterion evaluation of data security platform providers. For 2023, Forrester identified the 14 most significant ones and researched, analyzed, and scored them. This report helps security and risk professionals evaluate the vendors according to their needs.

Imperva and the other vendors were selected based on their:

  • Notable revenue. Vendors have at least $100 million in annual revenue related to data security.
  • A broad range of capabilities for data security for both unstructured and structured data. These capabilities enable a holistic approach to data security, including built-in capabilities for sensitive data discovery and classification, data risk visibility and insights, and controls for policy enforcement.
  • A sizable global presence. Each vendor included in this report must sustain at least 20% of its data security revenue outside its home region.
  • Interest from and/or relevance to Forrester clients. Forrester clients ask about the participating vendors and products during inquiries and interviews or have use cases that these vendors are well-suited to support. Alternatively, in Forrester’s judgment, participating vendors may have warranted inclusion because of their capabilities and market presence
