Imperva Incapsula Web Application Firewall Defends Indiegala Against DDoS Attacks; Content Delivery Network Enables Fast Performance

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., April 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Imperva, Inc. (NYSE:IMPV), committed to protecting business-critical data and applications in the cloud and on-premises, today announced that Indiegala, a digital distributor of PC games, is protecting its e-commerce website with the Imperva Incapsula service. The company uses the Imperva Incapsula Web Application Firewall (WAF) service to protect data and transactions on www.indiegala.com for up to one million unique visitors per month. The service also acts as a content delivery network (CDN) to help keep the flow of website traffic fast for close to three million user sessions per month on average.

As Indiegala expanded its online business, it recognized that simply relying on the Google Cloud infrastructure, while powerful, was not giving it the level of visibility into its website traffic that the expanding gaming retailer needed. For example, Indiegala.com did not have an option to filter web traffic and as a result, web managers couldn’t easily see the IP information for people connecting to the site. This made it difficult for Indiegala to detect and prevent web attacks.

“As a competitive gaming company that prides itself on offering the best deals to customers, we cannot risk downtime. Otherwise, customers will go elsewhere,” said Riccardo Rosapepe, Co-Founder of Indiegala. “Since using the Imperva Incapsula service, we have experienced outstanding performance on our website and it has successfully blocked a number of DDoS attacks that would have been really expensive to sustain without the service.”

Rosapepe believed that the company’s website had been targeted by attackers looking to steal the keys for some of its popular online PC games. The Imperva Incapsula WAF was able to block the bots making the requests, while maintaining a high level of service for its legitimate website visitors. During the most recent attack, the Imperva service blocked a network-level DDoS attack that reached 17.8 Gbps on the Indiegala website, without disruption to its customers.

“We believe Imperva Incapsula WAF is ideal for gaming and e-commerce websites that utilize cloud infrastructure, because it is fast to implement, cost-effective and offers comprehensive website protection,” said Marc Gaffan, General Manager for the Incapsula service at Imperva.  “For online businesses experiencing rapid growth, the Imperva Incapsula service is scalable to meet these demands and our CDN provides customers with optimized website performance.”
