Amichai Shulman, Co-founder and CTO of Imperva, will present a new scheme for classifying DB attacks, based on real-world scenarios of database access and attack profiles that characterize each access scenario. Building upon this classification scheme, the session will explore guidelines for developing effective and practical protection schemes.

Presentation #2 Traditional SQL Injection Protection – The Wrong Solution for the Right Problem

Ofer Maor – Application Defense Center Manager of Imperva will examine the shortcomings of mechanisms commonly used to protect against SQL Injection. The presentation will include a demonstration of techniques like Blindfolded SQL Injection, Signatures Evasion and SQL Injection-based Denial of Service. All of these can overcome common mechanisms. Alternative protection mechanisms will then be presented.
