New SecureSphere Data Suite introduces IPv6 support, SharePoint-specific security controls, and improved DISA STIG policy support

Redwood Shores, CA – December 7, 2011Imperva (NYSE:  IMPV), a pioneer and a leader of a new category of data security solutions for high-value business data in the data center, announced today the availability of the SecureSphere Data Security Suite 9.0 for U.S. Federal government agencies to safeguard their sensitive data and introduced IPv6 support for web applications to help agencies to comply with federal network requirements. With the total SecureSphere Data Security Suite, Imperva helps government agencies meet the security guidelines of the Defense Information System Agency’s Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (DISA STIG) and demonstrate compliance with NIST, FISMA and IRS 1075 information security guidelines.

“A security breach at the federal level can have severe consequences, whether exposing the Personally Identifiable Information of thousands of citizens or the disclosure of sensitive national security information,” said Amichai Shulman, CTO of Imperva. “The SecureSphere Data Security Suite helps government organizations to comprehensively protect data in externally-facing web applications, databases and file systems such as SharePoint. This suite also makes it easier for government organizations to demonstrate that they are complying with federal information security requirements from FISMA and NIST.”

SecureSphere Web Application Firewall for IPv6
As Federal organizations are moving to upgrade external-facing servers and services to support IPv6 by September 30, 2012, the SecureSphere Web Application Firewall is designed to allow organizations to continue to protect these applications during and after the transition. The SecureSphere Web Application Firewall:

  • Helps organizations to comply with government requirement to have all external-facing servers and services operationally use native IPv6.
  • Removes expansion constraints and simplifies network configuration challenges imposed by the current IPv4 protocol.
  • Supports the expansion of the government’s use of web-based applications.

Discovery and Assessment Server
To assist Federal organizations to validate their databases against the security guidelines of the DISA STIG, the latest SecureSphere Discovery and Assessment Server delivers improved assessment test filtering and STIG category display. This enhanced filtering and assessment helps organizations to ensure the secure installation and configuration of government IT systems, and maintain the integrity of government data.

SecureSphere for SharePoint
Today, government is the biggest user of SharePoint with more than 300 Federal, state and country websites built on the SharePoint platform.  With the wide use of Microsoft SharePoint solutions, government organizations are challenged with protecting SharePoint data from internal and external threats. SecureSphere for SharePoint addresses the unique security requirements of SharePoint’s file, web and database elements to limit access to users with legitimate business needs can access data.

Compliance with FISMA and NIST security guidelines
With the full SecureSphere Data Security Suite, Federal organizations can implement policies and procedures to cost-effectively reduce information security risks. SecureSphere provides pre-defined policies and automated reporting and analysis tools for demonstrating compliance with FISMA and NIST guidelines, including NIST SP 800-53 and NIST SP 800-137.

In addition, in order to demonstrate that the SecureSphere Data Security Suite meets the high reliability and quality standards of the US Federal government, the SecureSphere Data Security Suite is undergoing an independent evaluation for an EAL2 certification under the Common Criteria for Information Technology Evaluation Framework. Certification is expected in 2012.
