Director of Network Development Engineering

About the role

Imperva’s Infrastructure and Cloud team is looking for a Director of Network Development Engineering to drive innovation, scale, and operational excellence for the Imperva globally distributed CDN.  As the Director of Network Development Engineering, you are responsible for leading the team that creates the automation, tooling, and platforms that enable us to continue to grow our global network. You will work to improve the overall availability, reliability,  performance, security, and scale of the network for Imperva’s customers. Automation in the Imperva network is key to the success of our products and is the cornerstone of our Network Security business. 


Responsibilities

  • Set direction and prioritization for our next-generation network automation and management platforms 
  • Lead a globally distributed team of talented developers, centered around Tel Aviv
  • Work closely with other engineering leadership to plan and prioritize functionality needed for Imperva product growth and evolution
  • Drive continuous improvement across the platform, using a mixture of in-house and off-the-shelf/OSS solutions
  • Understand network hardware and software scale and limitations
  • Ownership mindset of network deliverables of scale, performance, and availability
  • Participate in escalations, root cause analysis, and incident postmortems

Qualifications

  • Experience with large scale global/service provider network environments required
  • Strong understanding of software development principles
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Strong knowledge in routing (BGP/ISIS/MPLS), switching, optical, & firewalls, as well as SDN concepts including FlowSpec
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, HTTP, DNS) and IPv4/ IPv6
  • Strong understanding of anycast routing
  • Understanding of Python, Go, C/C++, Rust and general tradeoffs between languages
  • Strong understanding of automation orchestration 
  • Knowledgeable in systems engineering principles, including the trade-offs between cloud, on-premise, and hybrid models
  • The ideal candidate is located in one of the following: East Coast US, Europe, or Israel
