Opportunity:

The Sales Engineer supports Imperva’s high energy, high velocity Inside Sales Team selling Imperva solutions and services in the United States.  This person is a highly motivated and talented individual that brings their 'A game' to a new and growing team. This role is designed for the technology professional whose technical strengths are in Web Application Security or Cloud Network Security with a deep understanding of selling security solutions in a high-velocity SaaS environment. The SE works in tandem with the Inside Sales team, supporting Imperva's solutions portfolio of existing and prospective customers.  The Sales Engineer is an integral part of the Inside Sales organization and assists with pre-sales technical knowledge, presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and POVs. The SE works closely with sales managers, prospects, and partners as a subject-matter expert to demonstrate how a proposed solution meets and exceeds customer requirements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to customers and opportunities in the pipeline to meet and exceed sales goals
  • Maintain a level of technical depth in one or more product/solution areas
  • Proactive self-development of Imperva solutions, sales soft skills, industry trends, competitor activity
  • Provide call coaching, account and opportunity planning and team training to maximize the value, advancement and continuous enhancement of opportunities and the team’s knowledge of the Imperva portfolio
  • Actively participate in sales calls to qualify opportunities and position the value of Imperva against alternative solutions/approaches through discovery and value-based presentations, demonstrations and other customer communications
  • Plan, manage, execute POV and trials as needed
  • Engage appropriate additional technical resources as needed
  • Execute on channel environment working closely with key partners such as Optiv, GuidePoint, and Sirius 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with major in Computer Science related degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in network security, development, pre-sales engineering, or real-world use of database and/or web application solutions; preferably with 2+ years of these as a sales engineer with experience working in a start-up and vendor environment
  • Possess a solid understanding of web applications, database, security, internet routing, and data privacy regulations
  • Must have experience with selling SaaS-based solutions.
  • Must have knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, Load balancers, proxies and firewalls
  • Compliance standards knowledge (PCI, SOX, HIPAA) – an advantage
  • Knowledge in databases (Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase, DB2) – an advantage
  • Knowledge in application development (ASP, .NET, PHP, JSP) – an advantage
  • Experience with scripting and/or using RegEx - a significant advantage
  • Knowledge of advanced internet route selection protocols - an advantage
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
  • Able to effectively present technical material to small and large groups
  • Value-based or consultative sales methodologies (i.e. Customer Centric Selling, Command of the Message, MEDDIC, SPIN, Value Selling, etc…) – an advantage
  • Solution Architect certification from AWS, Azure, GCP a significant advantage
  • Experience working with cloud solution such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – an advantage
