Sr. Manager, Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Imperva’s Infrastructure and Cloud team is looking for a highly technical Site Reliability Sr. Manager to drive innovation, scale, and create operational excellence for the Imperva globally distributed network.  As an SRE in the ICO organization, you approach solving, supporting, and optimizing the infrastructure programmatically.  You will work to improve the overall availability, reliability,  performance, and security of the infrastructure for Imperva’s customers.

Responsibilities

  • Establish SRE team vision and strategic roadmap driven by OKRs
  • Effectively communicate the goals and direction to your teams, ensuring objective alignment and mapping with Imperva’s organizational vision
  • Partner with the global NOC to move their resolution of network-related incidents to an acceptable closure rate, with appropriate MTTRs tracked and reported to drive continuous improvement
  • Interface with and maintain open communication with internal leadership stakeholders to ensure we are providing excellent service and that we are receiving the same level of support in return
  • Manage, recruit, and expand a global team of talented engineers
  • Mentor and provide feedback to reports on design, architecture, development,  and career development
  • Establish metrics for data-driven decisions to help increase availability, reliability, and velocity
  • Be accountable and provide transparency for established SLI/SLO/SLA and other metrics for continued improvement
  • Work with internal and external customers as needed to troubleshoot and resolve business affecting issues
  • Take ownership of all SRE issue resolution. Ensure communication of correct urgency and severity to SRE engineers, internal and external teams
  • Take accountability to ensure retrospectives, and learning review discussions are actionable to ensure implementation of corrective and preventive measures to reduce the chance for issue reoccurrence
  • Escalations, incident response, RCA, and blameless postmortem 
  • Develop and maintain a follow the sun 24x7x365 on-call rotation and escalation model

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience within a cloud/web/CDN scale infrastructure
  • 5+ years of technical management experience leading software engineering teams
  • Experience programming in any combination  of Python, Go, C/C++, Rust
  • High/low-level knowledge of Linux systems, network programming and protocols TCP, UDP, DNS, TLS/SSL, HTTP
  • Experience with BGP and anycast routing is a plus
  • Experience with DevOps principles and concepts
  • Experience with big data technologies such as NoSQL/RDBMS, Redis, ElasticSearch, Kafka
  • Experience containers and container management (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus
  • Experience analyzing and building data telemetry, modeling, pipelines, UI visualization
  • Experience in developing software, troubleshooting monitoring large scale distributed systems
  • Implement software engineering best practices/standards and software development life cycle
  • Experience leading a team of resources practicing agile methodologies to ensure velocity of productivity and streamlined operational workflows
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication, and documentation skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally to establish and meet OKRs
  • Adaptable to a constantly changing technical environment
  • Strong communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization
  • BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
