Infrastructure Engineer

Imperva IT is looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our global team with extensive experience at on-prem and cloud IT Infrastructure systems and who has worked in a large enterprise environment. As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will manage hundreds of servers and assets, build multi-vendor environments across Imperva's worldwide offices and Data Centers while also having the opportunity to grow and learn new technologies.

Stack: VMWare, Linux, RedHat, CentOS, Shell, Bash, Cloud-  AWS,/Azure/GCP, 

Location: Vancouver, Canada - Hybrid (at least 2 days a week in the office)



  • A focal point of IT in our Vancouver Canada office.
  • Introduce and implement IT projects on automation, end-point management, etc.
  • Writing and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasks.
  • Provide configuration management and security compliance for virtual/physical infrastructure.
  • Working closely with the local Helpdesk team and the IT-Infrastructure global team in USA and Israel.
  • Manage HD technical support escalations and offer solutions to our Product Development department with responding to requests and incidents.
  • VMWare product suite installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on issues and root cause analysis to prevent future incidents.
  • Assisting with the evaluation of next-generation hardware and ensuring direct fit with Infrastructure and business use-cases.
  • Manage Infrastructure on AWS, Azure and GCP according to our policies.
  • Perform daily systems monitoring.
  • Maintenance of server backups and snapshots.
  • Perform upgrades and firmware patches for virtual and physical infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation for 24/7 operations.
  • Writing and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasks.
  • Follow vendor and VMware best practices for hardware and software configuration.
  • Hybrid mode, attendance between 2 to 3 times a week.

  • 3 years experience as an IT Supports Engineer or similar position within cloud & on-prem env.
  • Designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers and application deployments.
  • 3 years Hands-on experience managing Linux environments, Storage and Backup systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with platforms as VMWare, Netapp, Salt, Puppet.
  • Basic scripting and automating capabilities 
  • Knowledge of distributed version control systems as Git.
  • 3 years Hands-on experience with major cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Understanding large scale corporate environments
  • Comfortable building new physical and virtual servers
  • Virtualization experience with VMware and Hyper-V
  • Expertise on Linux and its flavors (must).
  • Expertise on Windows (nice to have).
  • Expertise on Bash, PowerShell, Python is an advantage
  • Experience working on open-source platforms (Apache, Tomcat, nginx, Node.js, etc).
  • Basic network understanding
  • Experience with Backups and Disaster Recovery Solutions
    • Documentation
    • Server/Storage Hardware including traditional and hyper-converged technology
    • Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Ability to work with colleagues in a team environment
    • Attention to detail and accuracy
    • Proven ability to self-learn
