The Forrester Wave Ranks Imperva as a Leader for DDoS Mitigation Providers

Imperva has tracked the DDoS threat for some time now. Back in 2014 we saw the rise of DDoS botnets. In 2015, we revealed one of the first IoT-based DDoS attacks. Last year, we predicted and then documented one of the largest botnet-based DDoS attacks. DDoS mitigation, as it turns out, is the constant pursuit of staying ahead of the attackers as they change tactics. It’s a contest that we continue to win with our investments in Behemoth 2 and our software-defined global network.

So we’re thrilled and inspired to see Imperva is a Leader as well as being top-ranked in the “current offering” and “strategy” categories among the 11 DDoS providers covered in The Forrester Wave™: DDoS Mitigation Solutions, Q4 2017. The report analyzes DDoS solutions and evaluates vendors across 36 criteria. The Forrester Wave™: DDoS Mitigation Solutions, Q4 2017 mentions that Imperva was among the top ranked in this study for its ability to detect and mitigate layer 3, 4, and 7 attacks, DNS attacks, internet-of-things (IoT) botnet attacks, and new attack types, as well as for its scale and speed.

If you are familiar with The Forrester Wave, you’ll know that it is a trusted resource for technology buyers. It also is the only analyst-published evaluation of DDoS solutions providers. The report evaluates vendors based on the strength of their current offerings, their product strategy as well as their market presence. Regarded as a key source of industry data, Forrester Research includes detailed information on the capabilities of vendors in that space. Forrester clients and IT buyers use The Forrester Wave to create vendor shortlists of providers that best meet their needs.

We believe that Imperva performed exceptionally well in this evaluation, and that the findings validate our approach and affirm our role as a leader in the DDoS space. Our researchers continually keep an eye out for new attack types like “pulse wave” which is a new spin on the tried-and-true hit and run attack. We’ve invested in keeping Layer 7 DDoS attacks at bay while not interfering with legitimate web visitors. More recently, we’ve had an intense focus on mitigating the increasing size and number of network protocol DDoS attacks that can overwhelm network infrastructure. And we understand that multi-vector DDoS attacks are the fastest growing threat. In fact, over 40 percent of attacks this summer were multi-vector.

Our goal continues to be to deliver cloud security services that protect our customers’ websites and their business.
